We are Paul and Dee Lance, owners of Lance Kennels, LLC. We pride ourselves in the facility and legacy of training excellence we have developed over the past 35 years of operation. Our facility is dedicated to professionally training and breeding dogs for competition, hunting and family companionship. We train, compete and breed retrievers for our client, as well as competing in AKC Hunt Tests with our own dogs.
With Paulís training knowledge and variety of training facilities, he has been able to put the love and attention into dogs that allow them to succeed to their fullest. Paulís belief is while training the dog, he also desires to train the owner to become a better handler. Many of the dogs Paul has trained are handled at the competitive level by their owner.
Paul has been training dogs since his first lab in 1972. Being close to St. Louis, Paul was able to apprentice under Pro Trainer Tommy Sorenson and he trained a number of dogs for the Anheuser Busch family. In the late 1970ís Paul trained many AKC Derby dogs that were sold them all around the United States. Near the end of Paulís Field Trial career, he put the FC Ė AFC on his dog Ė KPís Different Drummer.
AKC started the Hunt Test program, which Paul has been training dogs to participate in since the mid 1990ís. Paul is proud to have trained and owned 7X AKC Master National Hunter Ė Lanceís Little Miss Runaway, MH, MNH. She is one of a few in the United States to have completed this. Through out the years Paul has qualified numerous other dogs at the Master National event.
Paul has been quite fortunate to be able to do his winter training in Thomasville Georgia which allows for year around land and water training.
In Paulís spare time he guides for a duck hunting club in Southern Illinois that uses many retrievers that Paul has trained. It is rewarding for him to watch a trained dog work with its owner in the field.
Dee has been associated with retrievers for most of her life through her family competing in the field trials and now with Paul in the Hunt Tests. Dee has titled many of their own dogs from Junior through the Master National level. When time prevails, Dee handles dogs in the AKC Obedience/Rally ring competing at the Novice and Open levels.
